I was in your shoes not too long ago and finally found a useful way to share content via tumblr. Went through the same experience when I signed up for posterous. But hey, now I'm having trouble with Facebook, so I guess this is a never-ending loop. Makes me remember that it's not about the tools but about the content. Glad you made sense out of it though! –Paul

We're kind of both on the same wavelength about Tumblr. I've really taken a liking to it within the last couple month, and I like to think of it as my “home” on the internet, though I truthfully don't use it as often as I should.
