Increase Your Visibility in 2010 Through Video

Tagged Under : , , , , , , ,

You work from a home office. Does anyone know what you look like? Or that you actually exist?

One of the big things I do with AnywhereMan is create videos (even if on a not-quite-regular basis). This has helped give people an idea of my personality, more-so than something like simple written blog posts could accomplish. Video has the power to establish your personal brand and help eliminate hesitations people might have about you without face-to-face meetings.

Do you plan to use more video in the coming year? What are your hesitations? If you have used video, has it helped your success?

PS – As I mentioned in this video, today is my first day with the Kodak Zi8 pocket HD video camera. I love it! If you want a cheap and super-easy way to film yourself, check out the Zi8. Thanks to Net Atlantic for the camera!

He wins again! :) I got a pocket cam for Xmas. I hope to do some video blogging in 2010. Do you have any video editing software that you recommend?

Awesome! What kind of pocket cam did you get? I look forward to seeing some vids this year, Joel.

For editing videos, I'm now on a Mac and I'm in love with iMovie because it's easy and fast. The problem I always ran into with any of the PC-based editing packages was the preview quality. I never felt like I really knew how it all would look until I rendered the final movie. iMovie gives a nice preview of everything. But of the software that I used, Sony Vegas was my favorite. For quick, easy stuff I'd assume the new Windows Live MovieMaker could do a decent job.

Hi Dave! I totally agree with no heavy conversations through email. My husbands business partner attempts to take care of every uncomfortable situation through email and its really frustrating. With that said, I take your challenge and will be visible in 2010! The snow is beautiful! Great Video! :)

    Thanks Cassie!

Dave, I accept your challenge. I think video actually brings out some of the details of a person that words cannot do, even if they are boring old coots like me:-). Congrats on the Zi8 – I'd love to have one myself. Look forward to seeing more of you in 2010!

Man, you're not a boring old coot. I've seen your vids and if anything, you're honest and real. It's a gift to be able to communicate that effectively on video, and you're able to do it. Keep it up!

Hey Dave – I am up to the challenge my friend! This year my goal it to record a new video each week and post it to my blog – just shot one today I should have up tomorrow. Glad to hear you are loving your new Kodak Zi8 – picture and sound are clean and crisp! Having a ball with my new Flip UltraHD and it makes it so easy to do.

I agree with everything you said and my goal it to let people know the real me through video and have a lot of fun with it. Love your vids and look forward to seeing Joel's as well!

Hey Joel – Another vote from me for Sony Vegas – that's what I mostly use for my videos – although for quick easier editing you might want to try Windows Live Moviemaker. I'm looking forward to getting a Mac so I can be in multimedia bliss like Dave – LOL!
